Man Turns Himself In After Punch Requires Reconstructive Surgery For Westport Victim

A man wanted for allegedly punching another person in the face, causing reconstructive surgery, turned himself in to Westport Police.

Westport Police learned of the incident on Aug. 23, when the victim went to the police station to report an assault that had occurred at a Hillspoint Road address in Jully.

According to police, the victim reported that Ian Pearson, age and address unknown, and a friend had been asked to leave the residence multiple times.

The victim and another party escorted Pearson and his friend off the property at which time a verbal argument took place before Pearson punched the victim in the face, the police said.

The altercation was broken up by people passing by. The victim suffered an injury to his jaw, which required reconstructive surgery, police said.

 An arrest warrant was issued for Pearson who turned himself into police headquarters on Sunday, Oct. 21. 

He was charged with assault and disorderly conduct capable of causing injury. 

He was released after posting $500 bond. Pearson is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1.
